Special Beef Steak

Posted by Mamalot On January - 27 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

The picture is quite dark but this “Special Beef Steak” is one of the Filipino food that my husband love a lot. If you would ask him what’s his favorite Filipino food, he would say Beef Steak and Pancit.

Ingredients:

thinly sliced beef
soy sauce
water
lemon
onions
garlic
oil
knor cubes
pepper
pineapple juice or sprite
2 spoon ketchup
1 tbsp brown sugar

How To:

Heat oil in the skillet and add beef to fry. Flip it over and remove the beef when the redness is gone. Drain it and do the same thing with the remaining beef.

In another skillet, sautee onion and garlic and add the half fried beef. Add water, soy sauce, pineapple juice or sprite to tenderize the beef. Also squeezed some lemon and mix it. Let it simmer and check regularly. If the beef isn’t tender enough, you can add more sprite or water, add ketchup and pepper. When it’s completely tender for you and there’s just enough sauce left, then you can add pineapple if you wish too that’s optional because some people don’t like pineapple…

Ingredients:

1 kg. pork
20 bamboo skewers
1 cup soy sauce
1 head garlic, minced
1 onion, finely chopped
1/4 cup of calamansi juice or lemon juice
1/2 cup of 7up, sprite or beer (optional)
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 tablespoons of brown or white sugar
1/2 cup of banana or tomato catsup

How To:

* Cut pork meat into thin and long slices – 1/4 inches thick and less than 2 inches wide. In a mixing bowl, marinate the cut pork with the soy sauce, minced garlic, chopped onions, calamansi juice, ground pepper, sugar, banana catsup and the soda or beer (this tenderizes and adds flavour to the pork barbeque). Mix well and keep in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (turning occasionally). Prepare the bamboo skewers by removing splinters and soaking in water to reduce burning during barbeque.

String the pork on the skewers.

Over live charcoals, barbeque the pork on skewers until each barbeque is cooked – turning every few minutes on each side and basting the leftover marinate on the barbeque

This is one of my experiment that turns out really good. It is very simple dish that’s easy to make.

Ingredients:

1/2 lbs. Shrimp
4 cloves Garlic, sliced
1 small size Onion
2 cups Sprite

How To:

Heat small amount of oil in a pan and sautee shrimps in garlic, onions. After that, add at least 2 cups of sprite and bring it boil.

And then, in another skillet, I sautéed peeled shrimps in hot oil with onions and garlic and then added water, frozen mixed sliced vegetables, salt and pepper to taste. The reason why I cook two shrimp recipes was ‘coz my husband don’t like eating shrimps with head and skin.

Welcome To My Kitchen’s Adventure

Posted by Mamalot On January - 1 - 2009ADD COMMENTS

Welcome to “My Kitchen Adventure” blog. Hope you will enjoy all the things I have and will have in the future. I am not a cook expert nor have any special training about cooking but I’ve learned to cook since I was a kid. As far as I could remember, I start learning cooking from watching my family cooks in the kitchen. I also remember those time that I help some of the preparations during special occasions like fiestas, birthdays, anniversaries and other different occasions that my family had. Honestly I really didn’t enjoy cooking then as I prepare to go out and play. I just learned to enjoy cooking when I was in Manila with my parents.

I start loving the fun I was experiencing when some of my experiment turns out great. I still don’t cook everyday as I have my sister and father who did the cooking but I was really having fun making some different dishes especially when I was about to come over here in the US to get married.

My husband learns to love all the Filipino food I prepare and cook for him. Among his favorite are the Chicken and pork BBQ, Chicken and pork Adobo, Pancit canton, Bam-I, Pinoy Beef Steak, Grilled fish and Lumpia.

My passion in cooking and love to eat different variety of food gave me an idea of creating this blog. Hope I will be able to share some the recipe’s I’ve learned in the past and will learn as time goes on… I will also include different recipes from magazines, newspapers, cookbook and online recipes as well…
